Hey y’all! I’m Kelly and welcome to the Spice at Home! I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia and currently live in Toronto, Ontario. I have a complete and utter obsession with all things food, home décor and hostessing. Nothing warms my heart more than welcoming friends and family in my home and I am excited to share my tips, tricks and inspirations with you!
I began cooking when I moved into my very first apartment while in University and immediately fell in love. I was going to school and working full-time but somehow always made the effort to prepare a home cooked meal for myself and entertain friends. After graduating a few years ago, I’m pretty much constantly on the go. If you’ve got little time but refuse to compromise on serving yourself and loved ones a beautiful meal and giving your home a personal touch I’m here to say, you don’t have to!
My food motto is throw a little spice into anything. That’s not just the southerner in me talkin’, I am all about the pops of flavor and love exploring new ingredients from around the world. My fiancé, Waleed is Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine has had a huge impact on me but savory dishes from South & East Asia and Mexico are some of my ultimate favs.
I believe in creating an inviting home to welcome guests and in making your home a reflection of who you are. I love a bit of glitz and glam alongside traditional elements. The millennial in me is completely unafraid of mixing patterns and textures (maybe a tad too unafraid). I love to throw a little gold on top of anything. Whoever said there’s such a thing as too much gold was seriously disturbed am I right?
Living in Toronto, space is certainly of the essence and it can be a challenge decorating a tiny condo while maintaining efficiency. I would know! Waleed and I live in less than 600 sq. ft. and I’ve learned a few things along the way. Being a young professional, the budget isn’t always there to purchase the latest and greatest décor so whenever I can, I go DIY to truly make it my own and so can you.
I hope to inspire you to add a touch of spice to your home and kitchen. Thank you for following along and I look forward to hearing from you!
